Deferred Diposition
DEFERRED DISPOSITION
Defendant may qualify for a dismissal of a traffic citation by complying and completing deferred disposition. You may request deferred disposition either in writing or verbally to Judge Barbara Stafford or the City Attorney, Patrice Carrington
Deferred Disposition can be a 30, 90, or 180-day probationary period. The Judge will pick the probation period and give you stipulations, for your court order. Defendant will pay court cost and a special fine amount (special fine amount is at the Judge Discretion).
To be eligible, you Must:
- Request on or before the court date on citation.
- Have a valid Texas Driver’s license and insurance at the time of the citation.
- Defendants with a commercial driver’s license are not eligible for deferred disposition.
VIOLATION OCCURRING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHILE WORKERS PRESENT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR DEFFERED DISPOSITION.
